[lastfm]Jim James[/lastfm] of [lastfm]My Morning Jacket [/lastfm] made time recently with Street Date‘s Evan Levy at Colorado’s Mile High Music Festival, and the two sat down to discuss the ongoing writing process, solo side projects, and cover songs as well as a brand new upcoming [lastfm]My Morning Jacket[/lastfm] album. With My Morning Jacket set to play a Live on Letterman concert webcast this week (Tuesday, October 12 at 8pm ET/5pm PT on CBS.com), it was a treat to hear the acclaimed bandleader speak so freely about his work, offering a taste of what’s to come.
After a busy year opening for [lastfm]Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers[/lastfm], appearing on the animated sitcom American Dad, and working with [lastfm]Conor Oberst[/lastfm], [lastfm]Mike Mogis[/lastfm], and [lastfm]M. Ward[/lastfm] in supergroup [lastfm]Monsters of Folk[/lastfm], Jim James says he’s been re-motivated to focus heavily on new material for [lastfm]My Morning Jacket[/lastfm]. And it’s official, the new record is near:
