Since starting out in 2001, TV on the Radio has become one of the most popular bands to come out of Brooklyn, alongside The Strokes, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and MGMT.

The band has a brand new album Nine Types Of Light, just released April 12, and it’s already settling onto the playlists of TV on the Radio’s avid fans. The band is celebrating its release with a Live On Letterman concert webcast on Thursday, April 14. You can watch the concert live right here or on, starting at 8pm Eastern (5pm Pacific).

In the meantime, Trends has taken a look at which TV on the Radio songs the band’s fans are actually playing right now.

Since 2003 TV on the Radio has picked up 23,669,864 plays from listeners all over the world. But the band’s charts this week tell a special story.

Nine Types Of light has only been in stores two days, but lead single “Will Do” actually tops the charts. And just behind it – and filling out most of the top fifteen, in fact – are additional tracks from the new record. Which means that the album has clearly had a massive impact on fans, nudging beloved classic “Wolf Like Me” down into fourth place.

Of course, if that track is to be beaten then the new material will need to collect upwards of 1,988,362, a staggering number of repeat plays for the band. In fact that play count means the track’s half again as popular as mainstream smashes like “Crazy In Love.”
