Avant-alternative rockers [lastfm]Cake[/lastfm] have just announced they will play a full streaming concert from New York’s Ed Sullivan Theater as part of the ground-breaking Live on Letterman web series on June 28th at 9 PM ET.
Cake’s sixth album, Showroom of Compassion, debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart earlier this year and received universal praise across the world of music journalism, garnering glowing reviews, such as this one from Street Date:
The ‘everything but the kitchen sink’ attitude Cake has toward what goes into their music is what’s so fun about them. They have the ability to take almost any musical style and make it their own, and it’s exciting to see where that takes them. If anything, they’ve only gotten better at it.
The lead single off Showroom of Compassion, “Sick of You,” has already become a new Cake classic.
And their latest “Long Time,” has become a fast favorite as well.
However, with a catalog six albums deep, there’s no telling what songs Cake may bring out for the streaming show. We’re still holding out for some classics like, “The Distance.”
Don’t forget to come back right here at 9 PM ET/ 6 PM PT on June 28th to watch Cake Live on Letterman, presented by AT&T.
