Adam Yauch, MCA From The Beastie Boys, Dies


Adam Yauch, better known as MCA of the [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Beastie Boys [/lastfm]has died at the age of 47. Just weeks ago, the Beastie Boys were inducted into the  Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but Yauch was unable to attend the ceremony. In 2009, Yauch announced he had cancer in his salivary gland.

Yauch was originally the Beastie Boys bass player when they were a punk group. As they evolved into hip hop, the Beastie Boys became one of the most influential crews of all time. In 1986, Licensed to Ill was the first rap album to hit number one on on the Billboard 200.

Yaunch is survived by his wife and daughter. In honor of his lifetime of work, here are some of our favorite Beastie Boys tracks:
